Missions Focus for September

World Missions: Jingle Jangle collection is 9/24.
SBC sponsors Karen Smith in Thailand where she helps to rescue girls and young women from the streets.
Missions donations can also be made to One Great Hour of Sharing to help support those in need following hurricanes Harvey and Irene. Please designate on your giving to what fund you’d like it to go.

Announcements

  • Blankets for Church World Service: $5 purchases a big, warm blanket for those is distress throughout the world and locally. Give cash or checks made out to “American Baptist Women” to Dottie Blackman. Note in whose honor/memory the blanket is for for display on the pulpit.
  • Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes are available for packing. Linda Hickling will be collecting them mid-November.
  • SBC now has regular distribution hours for the Food Pantry:
    • Every first Tuesday of the month, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
    • Every third Saturday of the month, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 am.
    • Voluteers are needed to help at these times, see Doreen Bush to sign up
  • The American Baptist Relief Team is headed to Louisiana to help with post-hurricane clean up from October 1 thru 10. Ed Stevens will be driving down and would like 3 other to go with him; contact Ed for more information.
  • SBC Youth Group begins on October 6 at 6:00 p.m. Two age groups will meet: grades 5-7 and grades 8-12. Adult volunteers are needed – see Andy for more information.
