Announcements
- Blake and Nicole Arenson will speak at our 10/15 worship service.
- Practices for the Children’s Christmas musical, “Angel Alert” are Fridays at 2:30. All kids are welcome to sing. Contact Sue Gay for more information.
- Blankets for Church World Service: $5 purchases a big, warm blanket for those in distress throughout the world and locally. Give cash or checks made out to “American Baptist Women” to Dottie Blackman. Note in whose honor/memory the blanket is for, for display on the pulpit.
- Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes are available for packing. Linda Hickling will be collecting them mid-November.
- SBC now has regular distribution hours for the Food Pantry:
- Every first Tuesday of the month, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
- Every third Saturday of the month, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 am.
- Voluteers are needed to help at these times,

Missions Focus for October
Church World Service Blankets
Every year CWS distributes thousands of blankets around the world. With every blanket we give, we reach families fleeing their homes, recovering from disaster and more, wrapping them in comfort, warmth, and compassion.
Post-Hurricane Help
- Help St. John Christian Academy – baked goods needed to sell at SpookFest (10/21), proceeds will go to the academy to help rebuild the destroyed facilities. See Ardath for details.
- Hurricane Maria Destroyed Dominica — The Burlington Flats Baptist Church is collecting items to be shipped down to the Caribbean island of Dominica. Dion Peter’s (Pastor Jay’s son in law) family have faced total island destruction from Hurricane Maria. His dad and brother are staying on the island and will distribute the items in their neighborhood.
Items needed include:
Over the counter meds (Tylenol, ibuprofen, band aids, etc.)
Evaporated milk
Bags of dried beans
Bags of parboiled rice
Boxes of mac ‘n cheese mix
Canned foods
Camping type propane canisters
Large tarps (every home’s roof was ripped off)
Donations can be dropped off at SBC.
